PeaceHealth is seeking a Recreation Therapist - Psychiatry for a Part Time, 0.80 FTE, Day position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $31.60 – $47.40.

The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

Job Summary

Provides recreational services to patients and families. Responsible for assisting in the planning, supervision, implementation, and evaluation of the Therapeutic Recreation program which includes activities of a physical, functional, social and cultural nature. Works as part of the healthcare team to assist patients to maximize their potential.

Details of the position:

  • Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates patient care needs as it relates to therapeutic recreation.
  • Documents patient care in health record according to standards.
  • Participates in process improvement activities.
  • Ensures own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
  • Responsible for recreation therapy program development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree Required: Therapeutic Recreation with an emphasis in therapeutic recreation, and
  • Master's Degree Preferred.
  • Required: Training and experience commensurate with certification requirements
  • Required: Upon Hire Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist and
  • Required: Upon Hire Driver's License and
  • Required: Upon Hire Basic Life Support

Skills

  • Proficient in a variety of computer applications (Required)
  • Knowledge of the theories and concepts of therapeutic recreation, leisure, social psychology, and human development (Required)
  • Knowledge of the diversity of the population including the cultural and diagnostic groups served (Required)
  • Demonstrated understanding of the assessment processes utilized within the therapeutic recreation practice (Required)

Working Conditions

Lifting

  • Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
  • Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
  • Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
  • Lifting (non-patient)/carrying occasionally up to 25 lbs.
  • Push/Pull: 1-25 lbs. of force occasionally (i.e., moving equipment).
  • Stooping/ bending/ squatting/ kneeling occasionally.
  • Rehabilitaion staff working with patients with rehabilitation goals involving bed mobility, transfers and gait may use other appropriate and approved safe techniques and equipment in the course of the rehabilitation process if determined clinically appropriate.

Environmental Conditions

  • Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
  • Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.

Mental/Visual

  • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
