PeaceHealth is seeking a Director Volunteer Services for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $38.22 – $57.34. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

Job Summary

Supports the development of culture around building relationships, creating a compassionate, committed team within the hospital and creating a healing environment. This individual is responsible for overall organization, operation, personnel and management of the Volunteer Services Department utilizing independent and collaborative judgment in decision-making, demonstrating leadership and problem solving. The Dir Volunteer Services must ensure that quality and performance improvement activities meet their target conditions. The Dir Volunteer Services is responsible to adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and standards for their areas and to be continuously ready for any survey on those regulations or standards.

Essential Functions

  • Plans, organizes and directs department services for the use of volunteers. Develops and recommends goals and objectives for the volunteer functions, coordinating with department heads to develop services suitable to volunteers and useful to the hospital and continuing the vital connection with community partners.
  • Implements policies, procedures, work guidelines and performance standards to assure the efficient and effective operation of the department in compliance with hospital standards, accreditation body requirements, and federal, state and local laws.
  • Supervises Volunteer Services staff in evaluating, monitoring, improving, and renewing all volunteer units.
  • Develops and recommends department operating budget with provisions for expenditures and supplies. Ensures that the department operates within allocated funds.
  • Evaluates changing trends in the demographic background and interests of individuals who volunteer and develops programs to accommodate or mitigate such changes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Required: in a related field of study. Extensive experience in a management position in a related field or situation may be substituted for formal education

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years Preferred: Management experience in a Volunteer Services, Public Relations, or Human Resources in a healthcare setting, or related field

Credentials

  • Preferred: Certified Administrator of Volunteer Services

Skills

  • Supervisory, leadership, problem solving, decision making, time management, financial & budgetary expertise. (Required)
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. (Required)
  • Must be able to deal with a multitude of tasks/projects/programs in short time frames. (Required)

Working Conditions

Lifting

  • Consistently operates computer and other office equipment.
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Sedentary work.

Environmental Conditions

  • Predominantly operates in an office environment.

Mental/Visual

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
