WECU is seeking a Network Engineer to join our IT Infrastructure team located in Bellingham, WA. This role is responsible for building and maintaining the day-to-day operation of IT networks for the organization. The role is responsible for the design, documentation, implementation, support and maintenance of the organization’s network infrastructure. The role serves as an escalation point and mentor for other teams, supporting collaboration, troubleshooting and knowledge transfer.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Monitoring, maintaining and administering network equipment and related computing environments including, but not limited to, network monitoring techniques and tools that support unattended operations and daily network related alerts and activities.
  • Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and other network and system problems in a prompt and timely manner. Participate in scheduled maintenance windows to insure optimal operations. Recommend upgrades and replacement cycles to insure high availability of the network infrastructure.
  • Ensure that proper backup and disaster recovery policies and procedures are followed, functioning properly, periodically tested and reviewed for designated systems.
  • Participate on projects to help scope system requirements and manages technical projects as assigned.
  • Responsible for writing technical design and maintaining build documentation for the network infrastructure.
  • Operate in a complex, highly secure, and highly available operations environment and interact with the subject matter experts required to operate and maintain those environments.
  • Demonstrate and maintain strict levels of confidentiality and security.
  • Organize projects, prioritizes workflow, and complete multiple tasks simultaneously and accurately.
  • Represent the credit union in a positive, professional manner in person, on the telephone and in written correspondence with staff, members and vendors.
  • Follows policy and procedures related to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP) and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) daily to ensure compliance with current regulations. Follows policy and procedures related to SARs by reporting suspicious activity to the Compliance department. Responsible for filling out an incident report for detected computer intrusion of Credit Union computer systems per Bank Secrecy Act. Completes mandatory BSA/AML annual training via online web course.
  • Follows WECU's policies and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and may also assist others to complete tasks and work assignments.

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field
  • Minimum of 4 years progressively responsible industry experience.
  • Cisco router, switches and firewall courses or equivalent training or experience.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems.
  • Strong background with network technologies including configuring, managing and monitoring, troubleshooting routing protocols, subnetting, and access controls and traffic shaping.
  • Familiar with Cisco IOS and command line configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Use Wire Shark to perform packet capture and analysis for troubleshooting network and system issues.
  • Basic familiarity with interpreted programing languages, (such as PowerShell, PERL, VBS, PHP).

COMPENSATION:

The annual salary range for this role is from $96,135 to $135,721.
