WECU is seeking a Business Relationship Specialist to join our Business Experience department located in Bellingham, WA. The Business Relationship Specialist is a key contributor within our branch environment who will manage and grow relationships with business members, deliver high-level service and support, open accounts, identify sales opportunities, cross-sell products and services, and serve as a trusted advisory resource for business members. This role is both member-facing and growth-oriented, operating at the intersection of business banking servicing, relationship development, and sales.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for small-to-medium business clients, ensuring exceptional service.
  • Engage business owners to understand goals and challenges, partnering with internal specialists to deliver solutions and setting appointment through direct outreach.
  • Monitor account activity, identify opportunities to expand relationships, and resolve or escalate servicing issues.
  • Open new business member accounts and business services.
  • Manage the onboarding process, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct needs-based conversations and recommend or refer appropriate banking solutions.
  • Coordinate with branch and Business Experience Team staff to drive cross-sell opportunities.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of prospective business members through referrals, networking, and direct outreach.
  • Meet or exceed assigned growth and relationship metrics.
  • Conduct reviews of client portfolios to identify cross-sell or retention opportunities.
  • Participate in sales initiatives, marketing campaigns, and community events.
  • Ensure compliance with all bank policies and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain credit and risk awareness in referring financing solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of business banking, commercial banking, or related experience.
  • Proven track record of relationship management and business development success.
  • Strong understanding of business financials, credit fundamentals, and cash flow dynamics,
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to build trust and sell solutions.
  • Goal-driven sales orientation with pipeline management experience.
  • Service-oriented, analytical, and highly organized.
  • Team player with technical proficiency in business banking platforms, and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of deposits, cash management, credit, and merchant services products.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Branch-based with business location visits, in-branch and administrative meetings, and off-site networking.
  • Standard business hours with flexibility for member needs.
  • Travel within branch service territory as required.

COMPENSATION:

The salary range for this position is from $32.01 To $45.19 per hour.
