WECU is seeking a Public Relations Specialist to join our Public Relations department in Bellingham, WA. This role broadly supports WECU’s ongoing marketing efforts by helping to promote the credit union’s products, services, and brand presence in the communities we serve.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in executing, tracking, and reporting on and about an aggressive event schedule which includes a combination of community event sponsorships and member events.
  • Assist in the production, editing, and posting of photos, audio files, articles, and videos.
  • Assist in executing the WECU social media strategy.
  • Assist in executing the WECU PR strategy, which may include crafting and distributing press releases, submitting the credit union and senior leaders for awards, and pitching WECU senior leaders as speakers at various community and trade related events.
  • Maintain the marketing team’s supplies and equipment.
  • Write and create content for the credit union’s social media channels providing daily posts and responses.
  • Write and create content based upon the credit union’s promotional and editorial calendars.
  • Assist with tracking social conversation, comments, and respond/engage appropriately.
  • Oversee social media efforts by managing, planning, creating, scheduling, organizing, editing, and publishing social media content for company pages including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
  • Provide recommendations on innovative ways to use social platforms and digital content to tell stories, interact and build community and drive engagement and traffic.
  • Represent the WECU brand and convey a positive brand image at company sponsored events.
  • Follows WECU’s policies and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and may also assist others to complete tasks and work assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Formal education in marketing or advertising with emphasis in communications or equivalent professional experience preferred.
  • Fluency in marketing, advertising, and communications best practice
  • Understanding of the digital ecosystem and its role in a contemporary and integrated member experience.
  • Technical knowledge and experience with social media platforms, video editing, photo editing, graphic design and copy writing preferred
  • Clear communication skills.
  • Accurate writing skills, stressing composition, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Represent WECU in a positive, professional manner in person, on the telephone, and in written correspondence.

COMPENSATION:

The salary range for this position is from $28.56 to $40.32 per hour.
