WECU is seeking a Vice President, Business Intelligence to join our Business Intelligence department located in Bellingham, WA. The Vice President, Business Intelligence is a strategic and collaborative leader responsible for defining and executing WECU’s data and analytics vision in support of organizational objectives and member value. This role partners closely with executive leadership, business unit leaders, technology teams, and risk partners to deliver trusted insights that drive sustainable growth, operational efficiency, and risk management. The Vice President oversees the Business Intelligence function, ensuring data integrity, accessibility, security, and effective use of modern analytics platforms. This role emphasizes a strong culture of collaboration, data literacy, and shared accountability, enabling teams across WECU to confidently use data to inform decisions while aligning with WECU’s community-focused values.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner with the Chief Financial Officer and senior leadership to develop and execute a Business Intelligence strategy aligned with WECU’s strategic plan, collaborative culture, and member-first mission.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and business units by proactively identifying analytics opportunities, translating business needs into data solutions, and delivering actionable insights.
  • Lead the design, development, and evolution of WECU’s analytics architecture, including data ingestion, modeling, validation, and reporting practices.
  • Oversee and optimize the use of WECU’s core Business Intelligence technology stack, including Azure Data Factory, Snowflake, and complementary analytics, visualization, and data quality tools.
  • Collaborate closely with Technology, Risk, Compliance, and business partners to ensure data solutions are secure, scalable, well-governed, and compliant with regulatory and information security standards.
  • Partner with the Chief Financial Officer and Data Steering Committee to establish, maintain, and operationalize data governance policies, standards, and stewardship across the enterprise.
  • Champion data literacy and democratization by creating frameworks, training, and enablement resources that empower teams to responsibly access, interpret, and use data.
  • Lead vendor evaluation, selection, and management related to business intelligence, analytics, and data platforms, ensuring strong partnerships and effective contract oversight.
  • Build, develop, and retain a high-performing Business Intelligence team, fostering a culture of collaboration, curiosity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of enterprise data by enforcing strong SDLC practices, validation processes, and monitoring controls.
  • Stay current on emerging trends in analytics, cloud data platforms, and agentic analytics, recommending innovations that enhance WECU’s analytical capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including GLBA, BSA, AML, CIP, and CDD, and support related audits, reporting, and training requirements.
  • Maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans for Business Intelligence systems and processes.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned in support of WECU’s goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 6-8 years progressive experience, including leadership experience.
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to clearly and concisely interpret and present findings to other senior leaders and business unit leads.
  • Proven project management and development experience, including Agile methodology
  • Inquisitive and proactive in identifying risks/opportunities, then proposing, and analyzing solutions.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and yet able to steer analytics projects toward clear business goals, testable hypotheses, and action-oriented outcomes.
  • Ability to assess the usefulness of software vendors and negotiate contracts.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies and their current or potential application to the Credit Union, particularly business intelligence, analytics, and data warehouse initiatives.
  • Experience working with analytics and business intelligence platforms and tools.
  • Project management experience.

COMPENSATION:

The salary range for this position is from $162,951.08 To $230,048.58 per year.
