WECU is seeking a Senior Graphic Designer to join our Marketing Department located in Bellingham, WA. The Senior Graphic Designer, will be pivotal in shaping our visual communication strategies and elevating our brand presence. The ideal candidate is a creative thinker, a master of design software, and possesses a proven track record of delivering high-quality visual materials across various mediums. Senior Graphic Designers take the lead on advertising campaigns and designs, oversee other designers’ work, and manage design-related vendors. They also collaborate with WECU leadership to ensure their work aligns with strategic goals.

Washington-based organization, but work may be performed remotely.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategic Alignment: Understand WECU marketing initiatives, strategic positioning, and target audiences. Apply this understanding to marketing strategy development.
  • Brand Management: Ensure consistency and adherence to brand guidelines across all design projects, maintaining a cohesive and recognizable brand identity. Introduce new brand elements as needed, to maintain brand relevance.
  • Campaign Concepts: Develop and present visual concepts that are aligned with campaign goals, meet brand expectations, and adhere to design best practices.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product development, and sales, to understand project requirements and deliver compelling design solutions.
  • Project Leadership: Take ownership of design projects from start to finish, managing timelines and priorities and coordinating with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior designers, fostering a collaborative and creative team environment.
  • Innovation: Continuously stay informed of new industry best practices to maximize efficiency and stay relevant.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Follows WECU’s policies and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and may also assist others to complete tasks and work assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4-year degree from an accredited institution in design, marketing or related field, OR appropriate combination of education and significant experience
  • Minimum 5 years of professional design experience.
  • Proven experience as a Graphic Designer with a strong portfolio showcasing a range of design projects.
  • Ability to take a lead role in campaign direction, design, and execution, as well as manage and delegate tasks.
  • Strong understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, and layout techniques.
  • Understanding of the digital ecosystem and its role in a contemporary and integrated member experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in industry-standard design software (Adobe Creative Suite, etc.).
  • The ideal candidate will have experience creating mock-ups and/or wireframes for web design and be familiar with UX best practices.
  • Experience building files for both print and digital.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Must be open to feedback and be able to take direction.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Accurate writing skills, stressing composition, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Up to date with industry trends and a passion for staying ahead in design innovation.
  • Represent WECU in a positive, professional manner in person, on the telephone, and in written correspondence.

COMPENSATION:

The salary range for this position is from $34.21 to $48.30 per hour.
