WECU is seeking a Director, Facilities to join our Facilities department located in Bellingham, WA. The Director, Facilities is responsible for directing, planning, implementing, and supervising initiatives that ensure safe, secure, compliant, and efficient environments aligned with WECU’s mission and vision. This role leads facilities strategy and execution, including maintenance, building systems, physical security systems, vendor management, capital projects, real estate, workplace safety, and sustainability. The position focuses on optimizing costs, maximizing up time, and enhancing the experience of both members and staff. Works cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of the organization, including the Executive Team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for Facilities, Physical Security, and Safety operations across all WECU locations to ensure safe, secure, and efficient environments for employees and members.
  • Direct and develop Facilities, Maintenance, and Security teams, including workforce planning, coaching, performance management, and hiring to achieve departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Oversee facility operations and infrastructure, including preventative and deferred maintenance, renovations, construction projects, and building systems management across all buildings and grounds.
  • Plan, procure, install, and maintain security, alarm, access control, surveillance, fire, and life-safety systems to protect employees, members, and organizational assets.
  • Lead vendor and contractor management, including RFP/RFQ processes, contract negotiations, and oversight of service providers for MEP, janitorial, security, and other facility services in accordance with the Vendor Management Program.
  • Ensure rapid and effective response to facilities or security incidents, property damage, equipment failures, and operational disruptions.
  • Develop and implement short- and long-term facilities and security strategies, including the Master Facility Plan, infrastructure improvements, and initiatives that support growth, sustainability, and operational resilience.
  • Ensure regulatory and organizational compliance, including OSHA, local and state safety inspections, BSA/AML/CIP/CDD requirements, audit remediation, and adherence to building codes and workplace safety standards.
  • Lead business continuity and emergency preparedness efforts, including disaster recovery planning and active participation in the Emergency Response Team and Safety Committee.
  • Foster a culture of organizational safety, operational efficiency, and risk awareness by collaborating with departments, providing training, and implementing best practices for workplace safety and security.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field with at least five years of leadership and technical experience.
  • Construction project management experience required.
  • Current or previous contractor license preferred.
  • Certified member of the Institute of Supply Management (ISM) preferred.
  • Certified Member of the Purchasing Management Association (PMA) preferred.
  • Trade school training and/or practical experience in electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work.
  • Working knowledge of the International Building Code (IBC), including municipal, county, and state requirements.
  • Working knowledge of safety requirements and best practices, including OSHA/WISHA regulations.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with community members, government representatives, and executive-level staff.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to anticipate and prevent problems.
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately under deadlines, interpersonal pressure, and other stressful conditions.

COMPENSATION:

The salary range for this position is from $96,135. To $135,721. per year.
