Business Experience Officer

WECU is seeking a Business Experience Officer to join our Business Experience team located in Bellingham, WA. The position is responsible for providing a consultative approach to business members to identify cash management and business deposit solutions. The Business Experience Officer will conduct sales calls with existing or prospective members, develop strong business relationships in the community, and effectively implement services and solutions in a consultative manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to achieve established sales and member satisfaction goals, demonstrate effective new business development strategies, and build/source new relationships.
- Generates leads from referrals and a variety of prospect lists and sources.
- Provides product knowledge expertise during sales calls with potential and existing members.
- Identifies and closes new member cash management opportunities through internal referrals and development of professional center of influence (COI) networks.
- Ability to make sound credit underwriting decisions for Small Business Visa requests.
- Meets with prospective Cash Management members to develop relationships, make consultative presentations, demonstrate products, and sell services that meet business owner’s needs.
- Reviews and analyzes current and potential business relationships and recommends appropriate products and services.
- Prepares appropriate documentation and agreements related to merchant services, and cash management products and services in accordance with the credit union’s policies and procedures.
- Works with Business Experience Specialist to complete appropriate product agreements, resolutions and setup forms for products sold and follows through with the customer until completion.
- Submits all required documentation to the Business Experience Specialist for setups to be performed.
- Ensure the accurate implementation and servicing of all business deposit and cash management products.
- Prepare professional written banking proposals and comparative analysis.
- Knowledgeable in all business banking, checking/savings products and services. This position will be required to work with business members to open business accounts in person and remotely on a weekly basis.
- Responds to customer inquiries and requests in a prompt and courteous manner.
- Meets with Retail Branch teams & Business Banking Loan Officers regularly to increase their knowledge of Cash Management, Merchant, and Business Visa services to help promote referrals.
- Maintain Knowledge base of current and emerging business and cash management products.
- Lead effective relationship reviews identifying additional opportunities to expand services and revenue.
- Provides member assistance and troubleshooting with Merchant Services and Cash Management product installation via phone or on site. Provides exceptional support to new or existing members.
- Provides prompt, efficient, and accurate service in processing requests and transactions.
- Uncover referral opportunities for commercial loans and lines of credit to business loan officers within WECU.
- Participates in various community service or social organizations on behalf of the credit union.
- To maintain credit union goals, it is the responsibility of each employee to strive for the continuous quality improvement processes and quality of service to internal and external members.
- Follows policy and procedures related to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP) and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) daily to ensure compliance with current regulations.
*BSA Specific Requirements: Understand compliance and complete annual training related to the Business Services Loan Officer position including, but not limited to, The Bank Secrecy Act and the Patriot Act. Understand Bank Secrecy Act forms and procedures for monitoring and reporting suspicious activity. Notify the Compliance Department of any suspicious activities.
- Follows WECU’s policies and all applicable laws and regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned and may also assist others to complete tasks and work assignments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 3-5 years experience working in a financial institution. Must possess thorough knowledge of bank operations, policies, and procedures.
- Minimum 3 -5 years experience in treasury management sales, service and/or support. Proven business development sales experience.
- BA or BS degree preferred but not required, preferably in Business, Finance or Economics.
- PC experience to include Microsoft Windows, with the ability to learn new software.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Knowledge in credit based decision making.
- Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- CTP Certification Preferred.
- Ability to exercise judgment, initiative, and tact in dealing with members, management, and staff.
- Ability to represent the credit union in a positive, professional manner in person, on the telephone, and in written correspondence.

COMPENSATION:
The salary range for this position is from $72,368. To $102,166. annual salary.
