The Opportunity:

As the Administrative Assistant 2 for the Washington State University (WSU) Skagit County Extension Office in Burlington, you will be responsible for providing confidential assistance and budget development to the Skagit County Director. You will provide primary support related to confidential personnel issues, tenure and promotion; draft correspondence; attend meetings as a representative as requested; plan travel; and compile data for reports and presentations. ​​

Percentage Breakdown of Job Functions:

  • 45% Administrative Support and Office Management

  • 25% Fiscal Management

  • 20% Supervision and Personnel and Position Activities

  • 5% Office Support and Events

  • 5% Other duties

Additional Information:

This is a full-time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.


Monthly Salary: $ 3,665 - $ 4,882 | Range 41 Steps A-M | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • One year of experience as an Administrative Assistant 1 OR a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or closely allied field and two years of responsible office experience at the senior clerical level or higher.

  • Clerical or office work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. Graduate study may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Be able to work a flexible schedule during the week depending upon job demands and to spend some nights and weekend days away from home.

  • Be able to travel to WSU locations including outside the Skagit County.

  • Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in Business Administration or related field.
