Summary of Duties:
This position works with, under the guidance of regional 4-H Faculty and local county Extension Director, to provide oversight and leadership, including volunteer management, for Extension work in the 4-H Program of Skagit County, which currently serves approximately 350 members enrolled in more than 20 active clubs and lead by 75 volunteers. This oversight includes the training and management of volunteers, and the collaborative implementation of volunteer led programs, events, and activities that are executed within the policies and procedure of Washington State University (WSU) Extension. Additionally, this position is responsible for recruitment of new members, as well as outreach and partnership efforts with other youth serving organizations.

This is a full time (100% FTE), temporary position. This position is overtime eligible.
Temporary End Date:
This is a temporary position expected to end one year after date of hire. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment. Funding has been renewed successfully for several years and we expect funding to continue to be renewed
Monthly Salary: $3,900.88 - $4,069.83 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant extension program discipline and two (2) years of related program experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
The required Bachelor’s degree must be in a discipline relevant to positive youth development. Equivalent experience may also satisfy this requirement.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and make decisions that benefit the program.
Demonstrated ability to work as a team member.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and in a timely manner using oral, written and listening skills.
Must successfully pass the WSU 4-H Youth Development/Child Protection Screening Process.
Preferred Qualifications:
Educational background/ training in animal sciences, livestock production or related area.
Language and cultural competency in Spanish.
Demonstrated experience in mediation services.
Demonstrated experience in managing volunteers.
