Position Details:

Summary of Duties:

This position works with, under the direction of the Skagit County 4-H Faculty, to provide oversight and leadership, including volunteer management, for Extension work in the 4-H Program of Skagit County, which currently serves 500 members enrolled in more than 30 active clubs and lead by 110 volunteers. Additionally, this position is responsible for outreach efforts currently serving over 400 youth. This oversight includes the implementation of programs and activities within the policies and procedure of WSU Extension, and specifically, 4-H programming under the direction of the Regional 4-H Specialist.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a discipline relevant to positive youth development and two (2) years of related program experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.

  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team member with staff and volunteers.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively using oral, written and listening skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to use a computer.

  • Must successfully pass the WSU 4-H Youth Development/Child Protection Screening Process.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree preferred.

  • Educational background/ training in animal sciences, livestock production or related area.

  • Language and cultural competency in Spanish.

  • Demonstrated experience in mediation services.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing volunteers.

Additional Information:


This is a full (100% FTE), temporary position. This position is overtime eligible.

This is a temporary position expected to end one year after date of hire. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment. Funding has been renewed successfully for several years and we expect funding to continue to be renewed.

Monthly Salary: $3,900.88 - $4,069.83 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
