Position Summary

The Civil Foreman works collaboratively with the General Superintendent, Project Management team, Operators, Pipe Layers, General Laborers, and Subcontractors to coordinate the safe completion of construction projects within the specified schedule and quality requirements. The Foreman directs and manages all on-site construction activities, enforcing the company's direction, policies, procedures and safety standards, while maintaining the project budget. This position reports to the Civil Business Unit Leader and General Superintendent.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Promote a safe work environment and address safety concerns; ensure adherence to TRICO’s safety protocols.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to project requirements for project completion.
  • Organize and coordinate the daily activities of all crew members, subcontractors, equipment and utilize corrective action to keep the project on schedule
  • Perform and train on various job functions including (but not limited to) excavation, pipelaying, trench digging and safety, grading, confined space entry, installation and repair sanitary and storm water sewer structures and pipe systems etc.
  • Review the quality of work performed by crews and subcontractors to ensure they meet TRICO’s quality requirements.
  • Carry out and record site inspections; report to the project management team of any urgent issues immediately.
  • Maintain a knowledge of cost controls and of construction budgets; communicate regularly with the civil project management team.
  • Use assorted tools and equipment to complete civil construction tasks.
  • Keep a daily diary for each project to document field conditions, trade and subcontractor workforce, progress, and other factors impacting the project, as well as accident reports, quality reports, etc.
  • Submit timecards to the project management team daily with proper coding based on the project and work performed.
  • Secure the jobsite at the end of each day and verify that all site materials are safely stored; ensure the site is clean and well maintained.
  • Provide training, education, and support to all TRICO craft employees.
  • Participate in company trainings and events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

General Requirements

  • Knowledge of civil construction means and methods, and drawings and specifications.
  • Problem-solve and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Read and interpret civil, architectural, and structural drawings.
  • Ability to use GPS, Pipe Lazers, and Levels, etc.
  • Possess the interest and ability to lead, develop, and mentor teams, and direct resources on a civil construction project.
  • Work cooperatively in the proactive management of safety and health concerns on the jobsite.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and build strong relationships with customers, colleagues, and subcontractors.
  • Communicate constructively and professionally.
  • Possess an interest in learning new technology.
  • Act in a manner of integrity that shows support for the company, its values, and the employees.

Basic Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience managing civil construction sites, labor schedules, and safety protocols.
  • Confined Space Entry experience.

Or

  • An equivalent combination of experience and education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 6 years of experience as a Civil Foreman.
  • Possess an OSHA 30 or 10, and/ or first aid certification(s).
  • Experience working on Public Works Projects.
  • Experience with environmental best management practices.
  • Trenching and Shoring Competent Person Training.
  • Rigging and Qualified Signal Person Certification.
  • Commercial Driver's License.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, Bluebeam and Internet.
  • AGC Supervisory Training Program Certificate of Completion.
  • Flagging Certification.

Work Environment/Physical Demand Requirements

  • Required to climb, walk, stand, bend, or stoop for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50lbs.
  • Required to work in confined spaces and at extreme heights with proper safety equipment provided by TRICO.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions, with regular exposure to hazardous materials, noise, fumes, dirt, dust, and cold.

Travel

This job will require travel between job sites.

Location

This position is located in Burlington, Washington and surrounding areas.

Vehicle & Equipment

TRICO will provide you with the tools and materials to do your job, including 100% PPE – hard hats, safety glasses, and high visibility gear. TRICO will provide a tool truck to drive to the job site.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $45.00 - $52.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
