Currently recruiting for weekend coverage.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Seeking enthusiastic responsible staff to help provide a safe, clean and functional fitness floor for YMCA members and guests. Provides demonstrations, answers general questions, ensures safety, and upholds YMCA policies. Creates an exceptional customer service experience for all members and guests. Promotes member wellness and member programs. Currently hiring for weekend shifts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Be always present and visible on the fitness floor.
  • Help members with general equipment use and provide orientations as needed.
  • Cleaning of equipment and exercise areas, stretch areas, track, and hallways.
  • Organize and put away equipment, report damaged equipment and pull damaged items as appropriate.
  • Stocking towels, cleaning solution, etc.
  • Opening and/or closing the fitness center
  • Promote fitness related events, challenges, classes, and programs to members
  • Participate in mandatory staff meetings and in-services
  • Maintain working knowledge of fitness industry and YMCA trends to provide effective information and training to members
  • Enforce gym etiquette and policies
  • Be able to respond and follow YMCA policies and procedures in emergency situations
  • Responsible for your shift – responsible for getting coverage if needed

Qualifications & Benefits

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Multi-task-oriented and strong communication skills
  • Have excellent time management, attention to detail, and organizational skills
  • Possess the ability to make independent and sound decisions in a changing environment
  • Detail-oriented and exhibit a high degree of accuracy and alertness
  • Work collaboratively as a team member as well as independently with assigned goals, duties and deadlines
  • Ability to exercise high levels of discretion and confidentiality
  • Present a neat and professional appearance at all times
  • An interest or experience in the fitness industry preferred
  • Preferred 1 year of customer service
  • Must be professional, courteous, and friendly
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Fluency in a second language desired (with a $0.50 increase in starting wage!)
  • Must possess or attain CPR/AED Certifications within 30 days of hire
