Located in the fertile Skagit Valley of Washington state, Skagit Farmers Supply has served the local agricultural community since 1934. As a local co-operative the company provides farmers, homeowners, businesses, families and the communities in the Pacific Northwest with services through Agronomy, Energy, Retail and Wholesale operations.

Our Agronomy division serves one of the largest and most diverse agricultural communities west of the Cascades Mountains. Over 100 different crops are grown in the surrounding area including berries, tulips, corn, wheat, cucumbers, specialty potatoes, apples and vegetable seed crops. Specializing in conventional and organic fertilizer blends, turf & ornamental management materials, farm seed and Ag services, the company is seeking a qualified individual to purchase agricultural chemicals in Burlington, WA.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Job responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

• Identify and evaluate suppliers of chemicals and the ingredients contained within.

• Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements to ensure cost-effectiveness.

• Manage procurement processes, from requisition to delivery, ensuring timely availability of materials.

• Monitor market trends and negotiate contracts and pricing agreements to ensure cost effectiveness.

• Develop and implement short- and long-term plans aimed at increasing volume of agronomy business.

• Gather information on local competition and prevalent industry and business climate with the region.

• Deliver products and conduct soil sampling as needed.

• Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations.

• Exhibit an ability to receive feedback, adapt to new processes and continuously develop skills.

• Demonstrate the ability to collaborate, communicate well and effectively relay information with an emphasis on developing positive professional relationships.

• Practice punctual and reliable attendance.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma (or equivalent).

• Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office.

• Demonstrate strong organizational, multi-tasking, investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Lift, carry, push, pull and load up to 30 pounds.

• Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

• Professional appearance and demeanor.

• Possess a valid driver license and maintain a safe driving record.

• Pass a pre-employment drug screen as a condition of employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in business, agribusiness or a related field.

• 3+ years’ experience serving in a purchasing role or similar experience in agricultural operations, sales or administration.

• Knowledge utilizing inventory management or purchasing systems, or other query-based analytic or forecasting software.

HOURS / DAYS / SCHEDULE

This is a full time, in person, salaried position, typically Monday through Friday. Company-paid education and training may require occasional day and/or overnight travel.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Annual base salary: $70,000 – $90,000. After meeting eligibility requirements, benefits include:
