Skagit Farmers Supply, a financially strong and growing local cooperative since 1934 based in Burlington, WA serves farmers, homeowners, businesses, families and communities in Skagit, Island, San Juan and Snohomish Counties in northwest Washington State. The company’s market extends from Seattle to the Canadian Border and between the Puget Sound and the North Cascades Mountains. This geography offers a long growing season with diverse crops as well as countless opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts and those seeking rural living.
The company is seeking candidates to successfully market and sell propane, bulk petroleum and lube oil products. This position requires a high focus on establishing sales goals, developing and promoting a marketing plan, making proper recommendations and applications of products sold, knowing prices of products and services, maintaining and growing current market share, and providing a high level of customer service.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
• Conduct business at various locations including but not limited to residential and commercial job sites.
• Cold call to solicit business. Prospect new sales opportunities.
• Demonstrate a commitment to excellence, high standards and strong internal and external relationship-based customer service.
• Communicate information regarding company products, services and policies & procedures.
• Effectively manage a CRM program to support and grow sales volumes and build customer relationships.
• Participate in strategic sales meetings and training sessions.
• Collaborate with marketing to represent the company to various consumer groups, including but not limited to fairs, home shows, car clubs, motorsports dealers & clubs, community events, etc.
• Conduct sales presentations and prepare sales proposals.
• Work independently while developing and implementing short and long-term plans aimed at increasing business volume.
• Continually gather information on competition and prevalent industry and business climate with the region. Communicate information to management and others as needed.
• Exercise discretion and independent judgment by developing, engaging and maintaining a forecasted sales plans.
• Provide timely and accurate paperwork and reports.
• Operate a company vehicle and maintain a safe driving record.
• Develop positive work relationships with other staff. Demonstrate the ability to collaborate, communicate well and effectively relay information.
• Practice punctual and reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• High school diploma (or equivalent).
• Three (3)+ years prior sales experience.
• Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.
• Possess strong organizational, multi-tasking, analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills.
• Lift, carry, push, pull and load up to 60 pounds.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• Proven track record of being dependable and reliable.
• Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Strong organizational, multi-tasking, problem-solving, and analytical skills with an emphasis on calculating figures and amounts.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and safe driving history.
• Pass a pre-employment drug screen as a condition of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Product knowledge in propane, bulk petroleum and/or lube oil products.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, sales or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong organizational, leadership, multi-tasking, problem-solving and analytical skills
HOURS / DAYS / SCHEDULE
This is a full-time position (typically Monday – Friday) customarily operating and regularly engaged in specific outside sales activities. Qualified applicants must be available to occasionally travel outside the region or work evenings and/or weekends as the job may occasionally require.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
This is a salaried, exempt position*. Annual base salary: $70,000.00 – $90,000.00 plus commissions.
*FLSA status: This is an outside salesperson position as defined under WAC 296-128-540 and is exempt from the WA salary threshold for overtime exempt employees (WAC 296-128-545).
