Skagit Farmers Supply, a local cooperative since 1934 based in Burlington, WA, serves farmers, homeowners, businesses, families, and the communities in the Pacific Northwest. The company operates Agronomy, Propane, Refined Fuels and Wholesale divisions as well as retail Country Store locations in Washington and Montana. Our brands focus on a commitment to provide quality products and services to our customers and community partners. We are seeking candidates for an Accountant at our Main Office in Burlington, WA.
Responsibilities & Duties
Ideal candidates will possess an extremely high level of attention to detail, initiative, discretion and independent judgment with a positive attitude and the ability to multi-task. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Follow Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Work closely with Controller and other accounting staff
- Reconcile multiple complex high volume bank accounts
- Merge trial balances of divisional accounting systems
- Verify and record month end inventories
- Research, verify and prepare margin reports
- Compile information for various reports to file with state and federal agencies
- Verify and record asset additions, sales and depreciation
- Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts for financial statements
- Assist in conducting research and preparing reports for annual independent audit
- Assist in preparing annual budgets
- Demonstrate a high level of ownership and accountability for resolving issues in a professional manner
- Develop positive work relationships with other staff. Demonstrate the ability to collaborate, communicate well and effectively relay information.
- Practice punctual and reliable attendance
- Perform other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- 3+ years of accounting experience
- Experience working with Microsoft Office. Possess advanced Excel skills.
- Demonstrate strong organizational, multi-tasking, analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrate a commitment to excellence, high standards and strong internal and external customer service
- Proven track record of being dependable, with the ability to self-manage, exercise good judgment and exhibit a desire to grow professionally
- Lift, carry, push, pull up to 30 pounds
- Pass a pre-employment drug screen as a condition of employment
- Possess a reliable personal vehicle, valid driver license and maintain a safe driving record
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with a broad range of business accounting functions and procedures
Schedule
This is a full-time, in person, 45+ hours per week position. Generally, Monday through Friday. Company-paid education and training may require occasional day and/or overnight travel.
Compensation & Benefits
Annual base salary: $90,000 – $110,000. After meeting eligibility requirements, benefits include:
