Skagit Farmers Supply, a local cooperative since 1934 based in Burlington, WA, serves farmers, homeowners, businesses, families and the communities of Skagit, Island, San Juan and Snohomish Counties in northwest Washington State. The company operates a variety of light, medium and heavy automotive vehicles including tractor-trailers, bulk petroleum trucks, propane bobtails, forklifts, small engines, and agricultural tractors and equipment.
The company is seeking candidates for a skilled diesel mechanic to operate out of its shop in Conway, WA. Candidates should be flexible and very detail oriented with a great attitude while ensuring the safe operation of company vehicles and equipment.
Responsibilities & Duties
Ideal candidates will possess an extremely high level of attention to detail, initiative, discretion and independent judgment, with a can-do attitude and the ability to multi-task. One who can see things that need to be done and figure out a way to do them effectively and efficiently. Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Inspect, repair, rebuild and maintain a wide array of company vehicles and various mechanical equipment
- Operate vehicles and test all working parts in various functions.
- Perform safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documentation as required
- Respond to on-road service calls.
- Prepare vehicle records and report both manually and on a computer.
- Order parts and supplies.
- Comply with all applicable laws/regulations as well as company policies/procedures
- Maintain the general upkeep of the company’s shop and surrounding area
- Exhibit an ability to receive feedback, adapt to new processes and continuously develop skills.
- Demonstrate the ability to collaborate, communicate well and effectively relay information with an emphasis on developing positive professional relationships.
- Practice punctual and reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience diagnosing & repairing various types of vehicles and equipment.
- Must possess a comprehensive set of hand tools (shop provides tools over ½”).
- Experience safely using shop equipment and tools including, but not limited to hand tools, diagnostic devices, hoists, electrical test equipment, cutting and welding equipment, etc.
- Must be able to work with or around oils, greases and other automotive chemicals.
- Possess a safe and insurable driving record, maintained throughout employment.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 60 pounds. Stand, crouch, crawl, reach as needed to perform repairs on a variety of vehicles and equipment.

- Proven track record of being safe, dependable and reliable.
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen as a condition of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal training beyond high school education, specifically certifications recognized by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).
- Exhibit familiarity performing inspections and repairs to propane delivery vehicles (bobtails and transports), bulk fuel delivery trucks and pumping/metering systems.
- Possess a Class A or B CDL, or be able to obtain one within a pre-specified period of time (company may sponsor).
- Experience safely operating a forklift, loader or similar equipment.
Hours / Days / Schedule
This is a full-time, 40+ hours per week position, generally Monday – Friday. Qualified applicants must be available to work evenings and/or weekends as needed, especially during times of inclement weather (winter).
Compensation & Benefits
