Cleans and details County vehicles and construction equipment. Performs cleanup work for the Skagit County Vehicle Maintenance Shop. Assists mechanics with projects as needed.
Salary upon hire is $16.66/hour.
The Shop Aide is Range A of the General (Non-Union) salary schedule.Essential Functions
Must keep the Vehicle Maintenance Shop clean by keeping the floors clean, emptying garbage cans and cleaning and storing shop tools and equipment.
Detail vehicles and equipment inside and out.
Steam clean heavy construction machinery
Pick up parts locally and down south (Seattle, Kent areas)
Deliver vehicles back to County departments after they have been serviced or repaired
Assist mechanics with projects as needed

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical path to obtain the required qualifications would be:
- Valid Washington state driver’s license
Requires knowledge of:- Cleaning tools and shop equipment, including hoist
Requires the ability to:- Work with other mechanics in a shop environment
- Operate County vehicles
Licenses and/or Certifications:
Valid Washington state driver’s license
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is performed in the shop or outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Work week will consist of: Two (2) to three (3) hours per day (3:00 PM – 6:00 PM), 5 days per week (Monday through Friday).
Work requires standing, bending, crawling, climbing, lifting up to 75 pounds, and sufficient manual dexterity and strength to operate tools and equipment.
Hazards:
Work is performed in and around the Shop. There is exposure to noise, dust, fumes, lubricants and cleaning chemicals. Physical hazards from equipment may be present. Supplemental Information
