OverviewThe Marine Outfitter role involves the hands-on installation and repair of essential marine systems, covering mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical work. You will provide critical support in our service yard by diagnosing technical issues and executing repairs that meet stringent maritime regulations.Key Responsibilities· Troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing complex marine systems, including propulsion (inboard/outboard), pressurized freshwater, and hydraulic steering/trim components.· Installing and servicing 12V/24V DC and 120V AC electrical systems, including battery banks, bilge pumps, and integrated navigation/communication electronics.· Executing scheduled service intervals such as oil and filter changes, cooling system flushes, and comprehensive winterization/summarization protocols.· Mounting and aligning engines, installing through-hull fittings, and configuring fuel delivery systems while strictly adhering to ABYC and manufacturer safety standards.· Maintaining accurate records of labor and parts utilized and providing technical feedback to service advisors to ensure customers are updated on repair progress.· Other duties as assigned.Required Skills· 2-5 years hands-on experience with boats, marine engines (outboard, inboard, stern drive, etc.), marine systems (fuel, water, exhaust, electrical, plumbing), or previous outfitting / boat-building work.· Ability to read technical drawings, hull plans, wiring diagrams, mechanical schematics and execute installation accurately.· Physical ability to perform labor-intensive work: lifting and moving heavy parts/engines, bending, kneeling, confined-space work, working on docks or in boat-building sheds, sometimes in harsh or slippery conditions.· Mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow specifications precisely.· Drivers license requiredPreferred Skills· Prior experience working in a marine-outfitting shop, boatyard, boat-building facility, or similar setting.· Familiarity with marine safety, fuel/exhaust/water/waste systems, marine wiring/electrical standards, and marine hardware installation guidelines.· Basic knowledge of marine surveys, sea-trial procedures, system testing, or maintenance inspections.· Comfortable working on multiple hull types (fiberglass, aluminum, wood) and adapting techniques accordingly.Physical Requirements· Physical ability to perform demanding work: lifting heavy parts, working in confined spaces, bending/crawling, and sometimes working onboard vessels (dockside or at sea).· Ability to climb stairs or ladders to access vessels.· Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods.· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.· Comfortable working in all types of weather conditions.Working Hours & Compensation· Full-time position; Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm· Compensation to be determined based on experience and skill level.· Benefits: Medical (PPO or HSA available), Dental, Vision, Life, 401(k), Sick, PTOSalary Description$52,000 - $90,000 DOE
