Overview The Marine Outfitter role involves the hands-on installation and repair of essential marine systems, covering mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical work. Key Responsibilities · Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair complex marine systems, including propulsion, pressurized freshwater, and hydraulic steering/trim components. · Install and service 12V/24V DC and 120V AC electrical systems, including battery banks, bilge pumps, and integrated navigation/communication electronics. · Execute scheduled service intervals and winterization/summarization protocols. · Mount and align engines, install through-hull fittings, and configure fuel delivery systems per ABYC and manufacturer standards. · Maintain accurate records of labor and parts and provide technical feedback to service advisors. · Other duties as assigned. Required Skills · 2-5 years hands-on experience with boats, marine engines/systems, or previous outfitting/boat-building work. · Ability to read technical drawings, hull plans, wiring diagrams, and mechanical schematics. · Physical ability for labor-intensive work in varied conditions. · Mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow specifications. · Driver’s license required. Preferred Skills · Experience in a marine-outfitting shop, boatyard, or boat-building facility. · Familiarity with marine safety and systems standards. · Basic knowledge of marine surveys, sea-trial procedures, system testing, or maintenance inspections. · Comfortable working on multiple hull types. Physical Requirements · Lift heavy parts, confined spaces, bending/crawling; onboard vessels. · Climb stairs or ladders; stand, walk, or sit for extended periods; lift up to 50 lbs.; work in all weather.
