PSE's IT Infrastructure team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open IT Support Technician position!

Job Description

  • Resolves moderately complex problems by applying training and/or experience in carrying out a structured problem-resolution process. Uses problem-resolution resources skillfully – problem-management database, support system, standard references, scripts, and resource guides.
  • Fulfills customer requests, resolves customer technical problems and responds to customer questions in an effective and timely manner to ensure ongoing effectiveness of the desktop computing environment.
  • Is responsible for event management, service request fulfillment, incident management, problem management, access provisioning, and continual service improvement.
  • Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.
  • Demonstrates commitment to conduct business honestly, ethically and consistent with our core values and Code of Conduct. Ensures duties are performed in accordance with all regulatory compliance obligations.
  • This job is considered “safety sensitive” as defined in RCW 49.44.240 and is subject to pre-employment drug screening that includes screening for the presence of marijuana and marijuana metabolites.

Job Responsibilities

  • Resolves moderately difficult problems by identifying and executing a course of action aligned with but not specifically outlined in the structured problem-resolution process.
  • Provides IT user support using a problem-resolution system and/or standard screens, scripts, reference guides, and procedures.
  • Handles service requests that are predominately routine but which require skilled use of standard screens, scripts, procedures and references.
  • Applies training and/or experience to resolve specialized or more complex Tier 1 problems.
  • Collaborates with team members outside the immediate team.
  • Under frequent supervision, carries out specific procedures with prescribed standards to perform business processing, service, support, machine operation, or other work.
  • Usually completes individual tasks within one work week.
  • Ability to travel to other office locations as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

As part of the IT Workforce Architecture Project, assigned level S2.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two (2) year degree or certification in a technology-related field, or relevant military experience.
  • Three or more (3+) years relevant work experience.
  • Good communication skills and ability to interact effectively with internal contacts (e.g. customers, peers, project team).
  • Requires general knowledge of company products and services.
  • Requires ability to skillfully navigate problem resolution system and other related applications.
  • Ability to work well with a team in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment and follow instructions from supervisors and senior colleagues.
  • Requires ability to skillfully navigate problem resolution system and other related applications.
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license.

  • Familiarity with web tools and technology (e.g., HTML, HTTP, Perl, CGI); understanding of network issues; ideally possesses relevant server experience (e.g., news server, mail server).
  • Previous experience in LAN/network administration or systems administration in a relevant computing environment (e.g., Unix, NT).
  • Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST).
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA).
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE).
  • Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP).
  • Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP).
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
  • Computing Technical Industry Association (CompTIA) Network +.
  • Computing Technical Industry Association (CompTIA) A+.

The pay range for this position is $57,200.00 - $91,100.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
