PSE's Generation & Natural Gas Storage team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Baker River Visitor Center Internship position!

Job Description

Puget Sound Energy is looking to hire two interns to support our Baker River Club House Visitors Center.

This is a unique opportunity to support the Baker River Hydroelectric Project. The Baker River Hydro-Electric Project in the North Cascade Mountains of Washington is the largest of Puget Sound Energy’s hydropower facilities. The Baker River project consists of two dams: Upper Baker Dam and Lower Baker Dam, each with its own powerhouse. The project also contains extensive facilities to move salmon and other fish around the dams to aid spawning. In addition, the project provides public access for boating and fishing, camping, hiking, and other recreational opportunities

Job Responsibilities

This summer internship will welcome visitors and set the tone for the visitor experience with an emphasis on education and safety. The intern will provide tours, presentations and implement/interpret facility educational materials and exhibits. There will be opportunities to learn Puget Sound Energy’s history and deliver authentic and consistent information relative to PSE history and role in the community. There will also be opportunities to host special visitors and public officials when required. The ideal candidate will conduct outreach to targeted audiences including education organizations, in promoting/sustaining facility visitations, as well as coordinating with other PSE departments, and with corporate programs/initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated in the following areas of study: History, Museum Studies, Parks and Recreation Management or a related area of study
  • Comfortable presenting a variety of materials to new audiences and possess excellent communication skills
  • Experience interacting with the public
  • Good academic standing
  • Strong work ethic, initiative, and motivation
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Interested in the energy and/or utility field

Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to learn unfamiliar content in a specific timeframe.
  • Prior tour, museum or visitor center experience

Additional Information

The anticipated timeframe for this internship is Monday, April 29th 2024, to Sunday, September 29th, 2024.

The pay range for this position is $25,200.00 - $69,400.00. This position is not benefits eligible.
