Maintenance Technician I

The Port of Skagit is seeking a reliable and motivated Maintenance Technician I to join our facilities team. This position is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work and wants to build experience in facilities maintenance, equipment repair, and grounds maintenance. In this role, you will support the maintenance and upkeep of Port facilities including the airport, marina, and business parks. You’ll work alongside experienced technicians performing preventative maintenance, facility repairs, and general maintenance tasks that help keep Port operations running smoothly.

What You’ll Do
As a Maintenance Technician I, you will perform a variety of routine maintenance tasks across Port facilities. Work may include facility inspections, grounds maintenance, pressure washing, debris removal, and assisting senior technicians with plumbing, carpentry, electrical, mechanical, and other maintenance projects.
You will also help maintain clean and safe facilities, respond to maintenance requests, and track maintenance activities in the Port’s work order system. Projects may include lighting repairs, dock maintenance, trail maintenance, stormwater system upkeep, and general facility improvements across Port properties.
What We're Looking For
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 1 year of facilities maintenance or similar experience
- Ability to safely operate common hand tools and equipment
- Valid Washington State driver’s license (must be insurable)
Helpful Experience
- Experience with landscaping or grounds maintenance
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or mechanical systems
- Experience operating maintenance or construction equipment
- Technical or trade school coursework in maintenance-related fields
Work Environment
This position works both indoors and outdoors across Port properties. Work may occur in various weather conditions and may require standing, walking on uneven surfaces, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Pay & Benefits
Wage Range: $23.12 – $34.68 per hour
