Description

Small Business Lending Specialist

TBD-This position has flexibility to work from any of our branch locations but requires to be on-site at Barkley Financial Center a minimum of 1 day per week.

Monday – Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm | 40 hours per week

A Day in Your Life at Peoples Bank:

As a Small Business Lending Specialist, you will assist Small Business Lending Officers with analysis, underwriting, documentation, and portfolio management. You will primarily be responsible for analyzing businesses, financials, collateral, preparing written analysis and recommendations for approval, as well as coordinating loan closings, and ensuring documents are properly prepared and executed.

Your Primary Responsibilities Would Include:

  • Working with customers to collect financial information, clarify trends, and accurately analyze operations of the business.
  • Establishing loan structures within policy guidelines based on loan type, risk profile, and conditions within assigned parameters.
  • Preparing written analysis to accurately identify problems, trends, and changes in financial statements, cash flow, and ratios.
  • Preparing loan approval packages required for submission including credit memo, grade, and narrative.
  • Ordering and reviewing appraisals, title commitment, insurance policies, etc. for credit approval and file.
  • Coordinating Escrow to include preparing Escrow Instructions and closings with outside Escrow agents or managing RE closing process for qualifying in-house closings.
  • Managing loan delinquencies and alerting Small Business Lending Officers and the Director of Commercial Banking to problems or unusual trends and addresses problem areas immediately.
  • Working with Loan Origination to ensure that loan and collateral documents are properly ordered, and lien perfections are secured.
  • Supporting the Bank’s objectives for loan volume, portfolio diversification, asset quality and profitability through prudent analysis and underwriting.
  • Ensuring all credits are underwritten, processed, closed, and booked according to policy guidelines and credit approval.
  • Understanding basic accounting principles and their implications for the lending function.
  • Possessing knowledge of and comply with all Federal and State commercial banking regulations.
Requirements

What You Bring to the Team:

  • You have a college degree in business, finance, economics, or related field, or have equivalent experience.
  • You have a minimum of 1 year of banking experience including credit analysis, or equivalent work experience.
  • You have the ability to review and understand financial statements and tax returns for individuals and all types of business entities.
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel. Etc.).
  • You work with minimal supervision and have excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • You have strong interpersonal skills including professional etiquette and service mentality.
  • You are skilled at business communication, both verbal and written.
  • You have a strong professional demeanor and high regard for confidentiality.
  • You can travel to other Peoples Bank locations and off-site for meetings and/or training as required.
  • You have the ability to model the Peoples Bank Mission, Vision, and Values.
