PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham, Washignton is seeking a Radiation Therapist for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position. The general salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $41.64 – $64.75. The actual hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the job/position responsibilities, location, terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement, education, training, work experience, seniority, work performance, etc.

Responsible for coordinating the day-to-day functions for assigned area. Assists with ensuring that departmental goals are achieved, timelines met, and service excellence provided in all aspects of work. Subject matter expert. Responsible for the administering accurate treatment, simulation, and quality assurance of patients undergoing ionizing radiation treatment in accordance with the prescription of the Oncology Team and standards of practice.

Details about the position:

  1. Assign work; plan and manage priorities, provide technical assistance, oversee staff schedules, monitor quality of work, monitor team projects, mentor staff, provide constructive feedback, oversee staff training, ensure quality improvement, provide leadership feedback on staff performance, and assist with goal setting for the team.
  2. Performs all duties of the Radiation Therapist with a high degree of excellence.
  3. Exercises leadership and judgment to ensure safe and efficient treatment of all patients.
  4. Manages equipment downtime in collaboration with the physicist and manager.
  5. Oversees scheduling of patient treatments, including concomitant scheduling with medical oncology and coordination with physics.
  6. Ensures that issues and incidents are reported or documented as required. Assists with evaluation as assigned.
  7. Schedules staff to ensure coverage within budgetary guidelines. See Region Specific Notes
  8. Ensures that policies and procedures are known and followed.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

What you bring:

  • Completion of an accredited Radiation Therapy course approved by ARRT program (AAS)
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Radiation Therapist
  • Leadership experience or training preferred
  • Registered in Radiation Therapy Technology by ARRT
  • WA State Radiologic Technologist certification
  • Current AHA BLS Health Care provider card
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and communication skills. Ability to inspire patient confidence in care
  • Competent in providing individualized radiation therapy treatment in consultation with the Oncology Team
  • Maintain quality assurance programs in accordance with departmental policy
  • Strong customer service skills; treat patients with empathy and respect
  • Demonstrated skills in use of computers and treatment programs

ST. JOSEPH PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work requires active physical exertion from 34% to 65% of the time.
  • Ability to lift/move objects weighing 50 lbs. or less.
  • Work may require frequent exposure to toxic materials or hazardous waste. Reasonably anticipated exposure to blood and body fluids once per month or more.
  • Duties require the ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail (more than 65% of work time).
