Performs testing and developmental work involved with PACCAR products with an emphasis on truck electrical systems and components. Fabricates, operates, maintains, and programs a variety of equipment that evaluates the performance of vehicle electrical components or systems, both on the vehicle and in the lab. Maintains necessary documentation for test work and area operations.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
- Plan, design, build, and install customized electrical/electronic testing solutions for internal customers.
- Support and maintain equipment used for testing including heavy truck electrical systems.
- Work with project engineers and other technical staff to support and perform electrical / electronic testing of heavy truck electrical/electronic components and systems.
- Foster good communication by establishing and maintaining cooperative and productive work relations with all employees. Responsible for informing peers of work progress and problems or opportunities of which they should be aware.
- Ensures that lab cleanliness is maintained, observes established safety policies, and remains alert for possible safety hazards in own work area as well as work of others. Utilizes appropriate systems for safety knowledge and reviews work for potential safety issues.
Required Qualifications/Skills
- High school graduate supplemented by two years college/approved trade school or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years of related experience.
- Soldering of through hole components for PCB assembly and prototyping work.
- Knowledge of electrical and electronic principles and systems. Knowledge of data acquisition and analysis systems. Ability to work with schematics and manufacturers specifications.
- Familiarity with mechanical principles and systems.
- Direct knowledge and application usage of common electronic laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, and data logging equipment.
- Ability to use appropriate shop equipment and hand tools.
- Work on and around heavy duty vehicles in tight spaces to perform job requirements.
- Well organized and accurate with detailed work.
- Willingness, flexibility, and initiative to respond to shifting time and project demands.
- Capable of working individually and in group work assignments.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills
- Heavy duty vehicle and/or automotive electrical system familiarity including hybrid or battery electric vehicles
- Electrical harness assembly from schematic diagrams
- Data acquisition principles familiarity
- Heavy duty vehicle diagnostic software tool familiarity and usage Associate's Degree in a related field

Division Information
The PACCAR Technical Center provides engineering excellence to the truck, engine, and winch divisions of PACCAR Inc through innovative product development and testing. The Technical Center is located in the Skagit Valley about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington.
