Requisition Summary

We are looking for a Powertrain Controls Validation Engineer . Specific focus will be leading the development, calibration and in-vehicle verification of Next Generation Heavy Duty Powertrains.  The selected individual will work in leading a global, and innovative team to develop and calibrate “Best in Class” vehicle functions for PACCAR.

Division Information

The PACCAR Technical Center provides engineering excellence to the truck, engine, and winch divisions of PACCAR Inc through innovative product development and testing. The Technical Center is located in the Skagit Valley about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington. 

 

 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Supervise Powertrain calibration and systems integration activities for PACCAR Powertrains

  • Successfully develop and execute Calibration & System Integration plans for the MX and TX programs, including timing, quality, and budget

  • Provides technical input for new powertrain systems, advanced predictive features, and advanced powertrain systems.

  • Summarize technical issues and communicate project status effectively to all levels of management

  • Supports Vehicle Function Definition group with new product requirements definition and software prototyping initiatives

  • Stays current on industry trends and system development processes

  • Identifies opportunities or provides input for new initiatives to improve calibration and testing methods for higher efficiency and effectiveness

  • Maintains positive working relationships with other groups and PACCAR divisions

  • Successfully Leads Powertrain Driveability Ownership, including fuel economy targets and customer expectations.

  • Leads Calibration work on advanced predictive features and integration with evolving new autonomous systems.

 

 

Qualifications & Skills

 

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience preferred

  • Sound knowledge of simulation and modeling tools for advanced predictive features, as well as engine and transmission control systems.

  • Excellent Knowledge of Diesel Powertrain technology, vehicle applications, and use cases

  • Knowledge of automotive communication protocols: J1939, UDS, XCP, Ethernet, CAN-bus, LIN-bus

  • Experience coordinating technical work within and between organizations

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Self-directed and have demonstrated high levels of resourcefulness, initiative, and innovation

  • Commercial driver’s license desired

  • Ability to travel up to 25%

 

Education

 

BS in appropriate technical field required, MS in technical field desired.
