Each intern will be integrated into division and department meetings, activities and events to ensure an understanding of PACCAR and our truck brands Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF. The Paccar Technical Center is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to the development and validation of emerging technologies such as vehicle electrification and autonomous driving systems. The Paccar Technical Center is located in scenic Mt. Vernon, Washington north of Seattle and south of Vancouver, British Columbia.
Job Functions/Responsibilities
The Engineering Intern will learn battery electric truck modeling approach and be given a chance to check model correlations with experimental data especially on the battery performance side. The specific activities include:
- Learn and exercise with a battery electric truck model in GT-Suite and/or Matlab/Simulink
- Assess the BEV vehicle dynamics performance using TruckSim
- Conduct battery model calibration, focusing on capacity and performance degradation.
- Run simulations to assess impact on vehicle energy consumption.
- Process analysis results and write reports
Qualifications
- Solid thermodynamics and/or electrochemistry background
- Experience with GT-Suite and/or Matlab/Simulink
- Strong computer skills including Windows, Linux and MS Office. Coding experience desired.
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills required
Education
Currently working for an undergraduate or graduate degree in mechanical / electrical engineering or relevant major

Graduate Students: $30.00/hour
