The PACCAR Summer Internship Program provides an opportunity to learn about PACCAR through a work assignment in the Global Engine team. Each intern will be integrated into division and department meetings, activities and events to ensure an understanding of PACCAR and our truck brands Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF. The Paccar Technical Center is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to the development and validation of emerging technologies such as vehicle electrification and autonomous driving systems. The Paccar Technical Center is located in scenic Mt. Vernon, Washington north of Seattle and south of Vancouver, British Columbia. 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

PACCAR Technical Center is seeking an engine aftertreatment development intern to support the calibration, integration and testing of engine aftertreatment systems as part of the PACCAR Global Engines team. Internships includes unique learning opportunities to:


  • Define and execute calibration, verification and testing activities to support engine aftertreatment development in vehicle and in the test cell environment
  • Collaboration with global PACCAR vehicle, OBD calibration and Engine performance teams to support the integration of aftertreatment functions
  • Complete reports and presentations to communicate findings, draw conclusions and give recommendations on next steps
  • Maintain positive working relationship with other groups at the PACCAR Technical Center and other PACCAR divisions




  • Basic understanding of current diesel exhaust aftertreatment technology (DOC, DPF, SCR & DEF)
  • Basic knowledge of engine control system strategies and how they pertain to diesel engine and aftertreatment systems 
  • Scripting and data analysis experience desired
  • Experience with data collection, analysis and test planning is preferred
  • Must be self-directed; possess excellent analysis, communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team




Pursuing a BS or advanced degree in a technical (STEM) field 


PACCAR Benefits


Undergraduate Students: $25.00/hour
Graduate Students: $30.00/hour
