Position Summary

The Workforce Diversification and Equity Administrator directs, plans, coordinates, and delivers a range of services that support the promotion and advancement of diversity, equity, inclusion, and cultural competence within the NWESD organization and with regional districts and other constituents and partners with the ultimate goal of supporting students and diversifying the educator workforce in the NWESD region and state. The Workforce Diversification and Equity Administrator provides leadership in the design, development, and implementation of internal systems and professional development programs for NWESD staff. regional districts, and other constituents and partners.

Essential Functions:
Duties listed are intended to provide a summary of the major duties and responsibilities of this position. Incumbent(s) may not perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional duties not listed, but within the general scope of the position.

  • Oversees and provides leadership in the organization including planning, implementation, and coordination of agency-wide efforts for the purpose of ensuring outcomes are delivered in
    conformance with established goals and agency guidelines
  • Provide Technical Assistance to Districts around equity: Serves as an internal and external DEIC consultant, trainer, and/or facilitator on a contractual, fee for service basis. Develop and lead professional learning to both external and internal partners including legislatively required trainings for districts. Create a menu of internal and external professional learnings (book studies, speakers, trainings, Lunch and Learns etc.)
  • Lead a regional coalition with districts, higher education, tribes, and community partners to diversify the educator workforce. Work with Human Resources to increase NWESD workforce diversity and foster employee engagement and satisfaction.
  • Lead projects and programs related to equity including the LEADER (Leaders & Educators Advancing Diversity, Equity & Racial Justice) SPARK grant.
  • Build on the talents and strengths of a diverse education workforce to improve relationships with and experiences of students, families, and educations, especially within communities of color with the Administrator of Special Projects and Programs pursue and implement grants to support DEICC work.
  • Provide leadership and training in the development of action plans and the adoption of research-based strategies for the purpose of addressing the needs of diverse populations
  • Facilitate regular reviews of the NWESD Value Statement, ESD communications, and appropriate board policies and procedures and recommend appropriate changes as needed.
  • Facilitate and lead the NWESD equity team.
  • Partner with appropriate NWESD staff and community partners to provide agency ADA support including online.
  • Serve as an organizational liaison to external partners and job-alike(s) around the region and state.
  • Develop and build connections with community and other external constituents (e.g. tribes, CBO’s, school districts etc.) to build mutually beneficial relationships and alliances.
  • At district request/analyze data and information for the purpose of identifying research-based strategies, developing processes, and/ or recommending action plans.

  • Racial and cultural differences; sensitivity to issues and concerns of communities of color and other diverse groups.
  • Have knowledge of Trauma informed and Social Emotional Learning practices.
  • Ability to model instructional leadership and demonstrates a strong commitment to equitable outcomes for all students.

  • Ability to relate effectively with and provide guidance to staff, parents, community and district partners.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective, professional, working, relationships.
  • Ability to provide professional development and coaching to staff, teachers, administrators, and other partners.
  • Ability to work with issues related to culturally responsive practices for staff and district partners.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both in written and verbal form.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Office 365.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in education or related field preferred, and three years of demonstrated experience in DEICC work. Valid Washington State driver’s license and proof of liability insurance required.

Employment Conditions and Benefits

Work is performed approximately seventy-five percent (75%) in an office environment and approximately twenty-five percent (25%) traveling to districts and affiliate agencies, as well as for workshops, committee representation, and conferences. Lifts and carries a maximum of forty (40) pounds. Adequate manual and finger dexterity, hearing, speech, and vision are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.

Hazards: Potential hazards are present based on the fact that the position requires the incumbent to drive a significant amount. Hazards may include but are not limited to traveling alone, driving in inclement weather conditions, varied road conditions, rush hour traffic, etc.

Salary Range

Schedule III, Range 13b: $116,937.60 - $131,684.80
