Hourly rate placement contingent upon verification of related WA public school experience.
This position is included in the classified staff non-supervisory bargaining unit. Union shop requirements and the Collective Bargaining Agreement apply to this position.
Employment contingent upon completion and verification of form information and background check with fee to be paid by applicant.
Pay for contracted classified employees is distributed once/month on the last business day of the month. Pay for employees who work less than full year is spread through August. Questions concerning pay processes may be directed to the Personnel Office.
Eligibility for SEBB medical, dental, vision, life insurance, AD&D, and LTD if anticipated to reach 630 hours in the school year. Eligibility for retirement based on 3.50 hrs/day or more for 5 or more consecutive months. Optional tax-sheltered annuities: Omni 403(b) and Deferred Compensation Plan. Personal leave, vacation leave (260-day employees only), and sick leave prorated based on FTE.

Job Description: Education Technology Assistant
Responsible to: Information Services Supervisor
Work Year: Substitute
Salary: Education Technology Assistant on Salary Schedule
General: Provide assistance for the implementation of technology school wide at assigned school, thereby ensuring that school personnel are supported in their technology and efforts to integrate technology into the curriculum.
Minimum Qualification:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two years of successful computer support
- Experience with both computer hardware and software
- Be able to identify/replace basic hardware components
- Be able to use Microsoft Office, Education, and Internet based applications
- Preferable experience with both Microsoft and Apple Operating Systems
- Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
Position Responsibilities:
- Assist in the coordination and management of technology resources at the school site, which includes but is not limited to large screen display units, digital cameras, scanners, LCD projectors, video equipment, and client workstations for the purpose of promoting appropriate use of technology in the educational setting.
- Communicate effectively with school and district personnel and students for the purpose of maintaining effective school wide use of technology.
- Diagnose malfunctions of district-owned client hardware and software applications and take the appropriate action to maintain operation.
- Install and maintain equipment and software applications for the purpose of ensuring continuous access to technology
- Maintain an accurate inventory client hardware and courseware at the school site for the purpose of record keeping.
- Participate in appropriate training opportunities on an ongoing basis for the purpose of maintaining technological competency.
- Provide assistance to teachers on the appropriate use of software applications for the purpose of enhancing the classroom curriculum.
- Provide assistance to teachers in training students on the appropriate use of available technological tools and computer applications, including but not limited to Internet, Windows environment, Inspiration and other authoring tools.
- Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
- Perform such other duties, as from time to time, may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent; minimum of two years successful experience in computer support.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate accurately figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to operate a personal computer and mainframe proficiently. Ability to develop effective working relationships with staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
