The Scale House is the hub of communication and operations at our Bellingham facility. This role is the first point of contact for customers and drivers and is responsible for accurately weighing inbound and outbound trucks, processing scale transactions, and supporting invoicing and reporting. Accuracy, organization, and strong customer service skills are critical to success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately weigh inbound and outbound trucks and assign correct commodities
- Process scale transactions, paperwork, and data for invoicing
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly audits for accuracy
- Coordinate with dispatch, yard staff, and management via phone, email, radio, or messaging
- Communicate contamination or quality issues between yard and management
- Update inventory counts and assist with reporting
- Answer phones, assist customers, and route inquiries appropriately
- Process cash, check, and credit card payments
- Opening/closing duties including till management and cash reconciliation
- Maintain a clean and organized office
- Create and maintain SOPs
- Provide backup support and coverage at other locations as needed
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of customer service experience
- Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, industrial environment
- Experience with scales or scrap metal industry is a plus
Pay & Benefits:
- Pay range: $19.50 – $25.00 per hour
