Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our growing finance team. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, supporting operational decision-making, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, a proactive mindset, and a passion for sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
· Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
· Oversee fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules for recycling equipment and facilities.
· Ensure timely and accurate recording of payroll expense, manage labor allocations, and perform reconciliation of payroll accounts.
· Analyze financial performance and provide insights to improve cost efficiency and profitability.
· Prepare and file state and local tax returns, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
· Mentor junior accounting staff and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
· Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing, logistics, or environmental services.
· Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.
· Proficiency in Quickbooks Online preferred.
· Advanced Excel skills and experience with data analysis tools.
· Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
