Process Engineering Specialist

Basic Function
Provide technical recommendations to support and improve site operations, provide training and education to increase knowledge level of Process Engineers and Production staff and own development of complex long term, value adding, monitoring tools. Key interfaces include site process engineering and site production staff, technology contractors, catalyst and chemical vendors.
Job Duties

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: (functions considered essential as defined by ADA)
- Provides recommendations and actions to support short-term unit operations and long-term improvements, consistent with economic drivers and unit reliability.
- Collaborates internally and externally with requests for information training and technical expertise related to technology.
- Stays abreast of evolving technology and best practices, sharing updates with Technical Networks.
- Provides support during unit startup, shutdown or emergency events upon request from leadership team(s).
- Coordinates with the Process Supervisor group to assist in technology specific training/curriculum for engineer development as available information changes/improves. Provides shared leadership for Tech Teams. Provides input to team leads on the monthly and F2F agendas. Routinely lead monthly technical topic trainings.
- Training/mentoring of younger engineers, including development of training tools/practices
- Ownership of safeguarding dynamic flare models
- Coordination of third party engineering services, continue to drive cost control through well defined engagements with 3rd parties
- Highly technical troubleshooting and teaching middle career engineers how to approach highly technical questions
- Deep troubleshooting as needed on long term significant problems
- Swing engineer for TA activities as needed
- Development of new engineering tools to allow replacement of tools currently provided by 3rd parties
- Swing project load to smooth ramps
- Facilitate best practice development and sharing
Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.
Experience
A minimum of 10 years of technical experience in the refining industry is required.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Significant experience across multiple refining technologies directly supporting operations and projects is highly preferred
Education Level
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably Chemical Engineering) is required.
Required Skills
- Strong process monitoring and modeling background utilizing tools such as Seeq, PI, PARCView, HYSYS, ProMax, etc.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to manage time effectively and progress multiple priorities with minimal oversight

Salary Range: The salary range includes the minimum, midpoint, and maximum base salary values. A candidate's offer can vary depending on differentiating factors, including but not limited to education, training, or experience.
This position has a salary minimum of $115,300.00 and maximum of $200,700.00.
