The mission of the Helping Hands Food Bank is to provide emergency food assistance to those in need. We help people achieve self-sufficiency by providing food to individuals or families regardless of race, age, disability, gender, immigration status, national origin, sexual orientation or religious belief. We are Skagit County's largest emergency food provider. Last year we distributed 1,138,502 pounds of food to over 28,000 families, representing over 113,000 individuals. The number of clients relying on our assitance in 2011 increased by 17%; we served nearly 19,000 more individuals this year than last. On average, we serve over 550 families (representing more than 2,100 individuals) each week. Over 45% of our clients are children under 18 and 12% are senior citizens. As a nonprofit organization, we network with local food providers and community agencies in order to provide the best services possible. We depend on our local community for support - please consider making a donation today.
