Description

Title: Senior Marketing and Strategic Communications Specialist

Location: Administrative Office (on-site position)

City: Bellingham, WA

Position: Full-Time 40 hours Monday-Friday, non-exempt (hourly)

Compensation: The full wage scale is $25.75 - $35.45 per hour. Placement within the wage range is determined by a candidate’s relevant experience.

Job Summary

The Senior Marketing & Strategic Communications Specialist supports Family Care Network’s marketing and communications initiatives by developing, leading and sustaining high-impact communications strategies that elevate FCN’s service to our patients and communities and provides a consistent, engaging brand presence across all mediums. This role serves as a strategic partner to drive communications initiatives that supports our mission, while sustaining key communication mediums. This role also designs and produces marketing materials and manages advertising campaigns and promotional events. The Specialist operates at the direction of the Director and partners with internal teams and external vendors to ensure brand compliance, accurate information, and timely delivery of marketing initiatives.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop and oversee strategic digital content across the website, social media, and other digital channels, ensuring accuracy, brand alignment, and integration with organizational priorities and business goals.
  • Lead high-impact content creation efforts, including writing, editing, design direction, and production of print and digital marketing materials (e.g. brochures, newsletters, training materials, signage etc.), ensuring messaging supports FCN’s strategies and enhances visibility.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop strategy, planning and execution of branded marketing campaigns, including social media, print, and digital advertising campaigns, ensuring initiatives are aligned with annual marketing priorities, performance metrics and timeline expectations.
  • Serves as the liaison to key external partners and vendors, providing strategic direction to ensure consistency in branding, visual identity, marketing, and overall communications objectives.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on FCN’s digital presence and reputation, including websites, social media channels, and third-party review platforms; identify trends and proactively recommend strategies to strengthen engagement and brand perception.
  • Implement timely updates to online operational information, including holiday hours, closures, and service changes, ensuring accuracy across all patient-facing and public-facing platforms.
  • Maintain and enhance a centralized tracking system for marketing assets, campaigns, and creative materials, ensuring consistent documentation, version control, and regular review cycles to support brand integrity and compliance.
  • Serves as a strategic partner in planning, preparing, and executing promotional events, ensuring alignment with FCN’s goals, target audiences, and visibility opportunities.
  • Lead projects from initiation to completion, identifying and collaborating with stakeholders and ensuring objectives are delivered on time and aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance brand visibility, improve communication channels, and elevate organizational storytelling, advising department leadership on strategic recommendation and best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Fluency in print and digital marketing, advertising, graphic design and communications best practices.
  • Exceptional writing skills, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, composition, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • High degree of reliability, accuracy, and productivity with careful attention to detail.
  • Experience identifying target audiences and creating communications strategies and campaigns that engage, inform, and motivate.
  • Experience with digital applications and their role in supporting an integrated consumer/patient experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Technical knowledge and experience with website administration; WordPress preferred.
  • Experience developing branded, integrated digital creative for social media, advertising, website, etc.
  • Experience with proofing and editing content.
  • Ability to solicit, receive, and incorporate constructive feedback and new ideas.
  • Knowledge and experience with analytics tools and reporting.
  • Basic photography/video skills preferred.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills with ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to problem solve, take initiative, anticipate needs and remain flexible to changing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with diverse individuals at all levels of the organization and work effectively as part of a team.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required, or equivalent knowledge and skills obtained through a combination of education, training, and experience. Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or related field or coursework in these subject matter areas with equivalent experience preferred.
  • 5 or more years of progressive experience in marketing, communications and/or public relations, or content development, preferably within a complex or multi-site organization.
  • Healthcare industry experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, including planning, coordinating, and executing multi-channel communications campaigns, managing timelines and budgets, and overseeing cross-functional initiatives from conception to completion.

Physical Requirements: Performing the duties of this job requires ability to: stand; walk; sit; climb stairs; use hand to finger coordination, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities include: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.
