See open jobs at Community Action of Skagit County.See open jobs similar to "Medicaid Transport Driver" Skagit.This position is responsible for providing reliable and safe transportation to seniors, disabled adults, and other vulnerable community members to and from medical, treatment, housing, and other essential appointments and services. The position also informs and refers clients to other Community Action programs and services that stabilize lives, and equip people to meet their goals. This will be a full time position at 37.5 hours per week.
JOB DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
1. Provide professional, friendly, safe, and on-time transportation service within and occasionally beyond Skagit County for:
- Non-Emergency Medical Transportation clients to and from medical and treatment appointments.
- Senior and Disabled Program clients to medical appointments and other essential services.
- Community Action clients in need of transportation to medical appointments, housing, employment, and other essential services.
2. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any issues to supervisor.
3. Operate wheelchair van and other agency vehicles in accordance with all laws and regulations while following company policy to ensure a safe and pleasant environment.
4. Interact with clients in a respectful and empathetic manner.
5. Safely assist clients into and out of the vehicle including securing clients in wheelchairs, and properly stowing foldable wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility equipment.
6. Maintain timely communication with clients, supervisor and Northwest Regional Council especially in the case of delays or other unforeseen changes or concerns about client.
7. Inform clients about Community Action programs and resources and refer them as appropriate, providing a warm hand-off whenever possible.
8. May carry a small caseload of clients, checking in once a month or more to ensure they are stable and connected with resources they need to stay stable.
9. Complete all reports, data entry and billing as assigned, including tracking billable services.
10. Maintain client privacy in accordance with HIPAA and agency policies.
11. Participate in agency staff meetings and trainings, as required.
12. Other duties assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED/HSE minimum required. AA Degree in Social Services or related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years as licensed driver, with 1-2 years van or other professional driving experience preferred.
- Must have a clean driving record.
- Customer service experience preferred.
Or a combination of education and experience providing the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work.
License(s) & Certification(s)
- Must have valid driver license and auto liability insurance if personal vehicle is used for work-related travel.
- Training necessary (within 6 months of hire): Blood borne Pathogens, First Aid/CPR, Safety, Mandated Reporting, Confidentiality, HIPAA, and De-Escalation.
- Wheelchair securement, defensive driving, and client sensitivity training upon hire.
Skills & Abilities
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred; additional languages helpful.
- Must be able to fulfill the physical requirements of the position.
- Must be dependable and reliable.
- Must be able to safely perform physical requirement of the position. (see below)
- Ability to follow GPS and interpret maps accurately.
- High degree of integrity and trustworthiness
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Work independently, and as a team member; self-motivated.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook programs.
- Must have strong and effective communication skills (oral and written).
- Working knowledge of standard office procedures and technologies (phone, computer, printer, photocopier, scanner, fax machine) is needed.
- Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with people from varied cultural, socioeconomic, educational and experiential backgrounds.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements: Work is generally performed while driving and/or in an office environment. Extended sitting may be required. Sufficient mobility required for use of office equipment and driving. Eye sight, hearing and communication ability must be sufficient to perform essential job functions. Must be able to push, lift, load and unload 40lbs in order to transport mobility equipment. May be exposed to situational, environmental or health hazards, such as mental health issues, drug abuse/paraphernalia, domestic violence, blood, fecal matter, parasites, and communicable disease. Travel within and outside Agency’s service area will be required for community outreach, meetings, training and other job-related activities.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Starting wage between $21.07 - $23.26 per hour (DOE)
