JOB SUMMARY
The Library Page is responsible for checking in and shelving all library materials. The role will also ensure the library materials are kept neat and orderly. This position includes afternoon, evening, and Saturday shifts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Examines all returned library materials for damage or missing parts. Routes materials to the appropriate staff as needed.
- Checks in library materials using computer software.
- Shelves materials using the alphabet and the Dewey Decimal classification system.
- Aligns all materials on the shelves in an orderly fashion. Shifts materials when shelves become crowded.
- Performs routine inspections of areas of the library for incorrectly shelved items.
- Performs closing duties including tidying the children’s area of the library.
- Assists in setting up tables and chairs in the meeting room for library programs.
- Regularly refills supplies used by patrons.
- Performs limited cleaning on computers used by public.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to alphabetize, file numerically, and learn the Dewey Decimal classification system.
- Must have excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions, as well as a willingness to learn.
- Motivation to work independently and steadily.
- Ability to sort with speed and accuracy.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience with routine or repetitive work such as shelving, stocking and filing is preferred.

The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is generally completed on a regularly scheduled basis; the normal workweek varies up to twenty (20) hours per week; however work schedules may require working a flexible schedule.

Qualifications
Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. Spanish language skills desirable.
