THE POSITION: The City Administrator, under the direction and authority of the Mayor, provides leadership, administrative and departmental oversight of services provided by the City of Burlington. This position shall have jurisdiction over employees and shall assist the Mayor in setting operational policy, planning and administration of all municipal government functions. The City Administrator shall make recommendations to the City Mayor and City Council from time to time concerning working conditions, duties and compensation of all other city employees. Under supervisory control of the Mayor and within the framework of governing state and local laws and general policy established by the City Council, duties are performed with a wide latitude for independent judgment and action. Work requires the exercise of mature judgment and the application of management techniques and practices in a wide variety of administrative, fiscal and related areas. Work is subject to review for results obtained and conformance with governing laws and established policies, through discussion and analysis of recommendations, actions, and reports.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Public Administration or a closely related field; PLUS five (5) to ten (10) years of progressively responsible municipal senior management experience. A Master’s Degree in Public or Business Administration or a closely related field is desirable. Or an equivalent of experience, education, and training that would provide the level of knowledge and ability required for the position.
